Seat and matters
A seat for the attorney. A matter for each live application.
$59 a month for the seat, three new matters included. A matter counts once, the month you first compile it — refreshing and reading it are always free.
Annual is 10 months. $590 per seat, billed once.

Estimate a month
Example: one attorney compiling eight new matters this month = $154. Matters you refresh or only read cost nothing.
When a matter counts
PatentReply builds a living prosecution record: compile the application today, refresh it when prosecution changes, and keep working from the same matter throughout the life of the case.
The billable event is adding a matter, not keeping it current. A matter counts once, the month you first compile it; refreshing it when an Office Action arrives, and reading it, cost nothing for as long as it is in your account.
Counts (once per application)
- Compiling an application for the first time
Never counts
- Refreshing a matter you already hold when the record moves (a new Office Action, a Notice of Allowance)
- Reading or working a matter you already compiled — this month or any later month
- Conversations, questions, and drafts in your AI
- Exports and downloads
- A colleague reading the same matter on their own seat
Questions
- What is a seat?
- The attorney or agent who connects PatentReply, compiles matters, and approves filings. A colleague who needs the same matters buys their own seat; the matters are shared, not duplicated.
- What is a matter?
- One USPTO application, compiled: the claims and their amendment history, Office Actions, cited references, and prosecution events, kept as one connected record.
- When does a matter count against my allowance?
- Once, in the month you first compile it. Refreshing or reopening a matter you already hold never counts again, in any later month, and reading it is always free.
- Can I keep old applications around?
- Yes. Matters stay in your account, and reading or refreshing them is free. A matter never counts again after the month you first compiled it.
- What happens after my third matter?
- Each additional new matter that month is $19, billed at the end of your billing period. Refreshing matters you already hold never adds to it. Nothing to pre-purchase and no slots to manage.
- Do I pay for Claude or ChatGPT?
- No. You pay your AI provider for the AI. PatentReply is the record and the workflow.
- Which AI tools work?
- Any MCP client. Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, and Cursor have published connect steps; anything else that speaks MCP with OAuth works the same way.
- Is the filing download extra?
- No. Approve on this site and the signed download is included. There is no per-document fee.
- What do I get on Free?
- One new public application each month, compiled and workable in your AI. Refreshing an application you already hold is free. The allowance resets on the first of the month. Approvals and signed filing downloads require a Patent Professional seat.
- Do you train on my matters?
- No.
- Who files?
- You do. Filings and client-facing advice require your approval on this site, signed in as you.
- What about a family of applications?
- Each application number is its own matter. A continuation you compile is a second matter.
- Can I switch from monthly to annual?
- Yes. Annual is ten times the monthly seat, billed once.
- Money-back?
- 30 days on the first paid seat. The free monthly matter is the real trial — use that first.
- Firm plans, SSO, or zero-retention AI setups?
- Email us and we will set it up with you directly.
PatentReply is not a law firm and does not practice law. You are the practitioner of record. Use of AI tools in practice before the USPTO is your responsibility, including the duty of candor and a reasonable inquiry before you sign.
Prices in USD. New-matter allowances reset on the first of each month; additional new matters are billed at the end of your billing period. Seats are billed at the start of the period. Taxes extra where they apply.
We do not train models on your matters. Enterprise and zero-retention plans are available — email us.
